when hanging a hammock on 2 6ft posts how deep into the ground should i put the posts?
i have put them about 2ft into the ground put alittle gravel at the bottom and filled the rest of the hole with cement but as soon as you put any whight on it they just lean in. i was thinking i could expand the hole out about a foot and fill that with cement and that would help. can anyone give me any ideas. oh yea and i live in florida so my yard is alittle sandy.
Answer: Lean the posts away from the hammock by at least 10 degrees, and have the post holes dug to about 3 feet. Since you have sandy soil, the more of an angle leaned out should help. And then just cement in like you normally would. I would start by packing in on the bottom foot of the hole after you place the posts in, with half to 1" wide gravel. Afterwards, fill in with cement, and allow to completely dry before using. If you do this today, you could be enjoying your hammock by friday.
